PD&MS Group now have an immediate requirement for a Rope Acess Manager to join our construction team on either a staff or contract basis.


Role Summary

The Rope Access Manager is the designated responsible person for all lifting equipment and lifting operations as well as the management of rope access teams in both an on and offshore environment.  They ensure that the appropriate authorisation of Method Statements and Risk Assessments are in place as well as the management of certification, technical, safety and usage of rope access equipment. 


  • Manage teams of rope access supervisors (including subcontractors)
  • Monitoring of personnel reviews and assist Senior Management with disciplinary matters
  • Promote safe working practices, ensuring full implementation and compliance with the PD&MS policies and procedures
  • Audit and inspect on-site procedures regularly
  • Review and authorise Method Statements and Risk Assessments
  • Assist Management in the preparation of CTRs
  • Manage the usage and certification of all operational rope access equipment ensuring new equipment is purchased correctly in accordance with PD&MS and IRATA Operational Procedures
  • Liaise with the Procurement and Materials department ensuring that all required checks on equipment have been carried out and all records are maintained in a consistent manner
  • Assist with the investigation of any incidents, accidents or near misses
  • Oversee the planning and organisation of appropriate equipment and allocation of resources (IRATA)
  • Ensure all IRATA working procedures and guidelines are adhered to at all times
  • Establish and maintain IRATA accreditation for the company, in accordance with the standards set out by IRATA standards in the latest editions of IRATA general requirements, international codes and practices
  • Carry out pre-job briefs ensuring all teams mobilising fully understand the task, risks and the controls required to carry out work safely
  • Manage the technical and safety issues of the equipment and rope access procedures on a daily basis

Skills /Experience required

  • IRATA Rope Access Level 3 or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 3 Moving Engineering Construction Loads or equivalent
  • OPITO approved LOLER Competent Person
  • OPITO Rigger Level 3 / 4
  • Significant and demonstrable experience of offshore Rope Access construction projects
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of rope access management systems in line with IRATA
  • Significant and demonstrable supervision of offshore projects as team lead
  • Survival BOSIET / FOET with CA-EBS / MIST
