PD&MS Group is continuing to demonstrate its commitment to environmental and community support through a series of fundraising and volunteering activities for its 2026 charity partner, New Arc Wildlife Rescue.
Based in Aberdeenshire, New Arc Wildlife Rescue provides specialist care and rehabilitation for thousands of injured, orphaned and vulnerable wild animals every year, helping species including fox cubs, owls, hedgehogs and deer recover and return to the wild. Operating across the North-east of Scotland, the charity relies entirely on public donations to continue its work.
Colleagues from across PD&MS have been taking part in a range of fundraising challenges throughout the year. Most recently, a team of 14 employees completed the Aberdeen Kiltwalk, taking on the demanding 18-mile route from Banchory to Duthie Park along the old railway line. Earlier in the year, employees also participated in Run Garioch, entering the 5k, 10k and half marathon races.
Together, the events have already raised more than £3,000 for the charity, with the team aiming to double that figure by the end of the year through further activities and fundraising initiatives.
Laura Stewart, Business Development Director at PD&MS, said:
“With Aberdeenshire’s vast rural landscape and diverse wildlife population, the region sees a significant number of injured and vulnerable animals each year, and the demand for rescue services continues to grow.
“Whether its deer injured on the roads or animals struggling through harsh winters, we’ve become increasingly aware of the vital role organisations like New Arc play within our local community.
Protecting and rehabilitating wildlife is about much more than caring for individual animals. Healthy wildlife populations are essential to maintaining balanced ecosystems, supporting biodiversity, and preserving the natural environment that future generations will inherit. Organisations like New Arc help ensure that injured and orphaned animals have the best possible chance of returning to the wild, contributing to the health and sustainability of our local environment.
“New Arc is a small but incredibly dedicated team delivering expert, compassionate care 365 days a year, entirely funded by donations. As many of their facilities and enclosures need modernisation, we were proud to support their fundraising efforts and help make a difference.
“I’m delighted with the fantastic start we’ve made so far, raising more than £3,000 already, and we’re looking forward to building on that throughout the rest of the year.”
In addition to fundraising, PD&MS employees have also been volunteering their time at the rescue centre. During a recent volunteering session, team members helped clear grass and weeds from around trees and hedges on the site, supporting the long-term growth of natural shelter areas for rescued animals. The work will help provide protection from wind and harsh weather conditions, improving comfort and reducing stress for animals undergoing rehabilitation, while also helping to shield surrounding buildings.
